Golden Princess is the second member of Princess Cruises ‘Grand Class’ of liners entering service in 2001. Sister ship to Grand Princess and Star Princess she is instantly recognisable by her enormous rear ‘spoiler’ which houses the Skywalkers nightclub and observation lounge. There are five restaurants onboard including two Anytime dining rooms, a traditional dining room, plus a speciality Italian and speciality Steak and Seafood restaurant. In addition there is a 24-hour buffet, pizzeria and hamburger grill plus a number of casual dining venues in a street café environment in the new piazza-style atrium. After dinner there is a wide variety of bars and lounges to choose from, three show lounges, the ‘Movies under the Stars’ theatre with a giant cinema screen located poolside, one of the largest casino’s afloat and there’s always Skywalkers nightclub located 15 decks above the ocean. In terms of recreation she has four swimming pools including an all weather pool area with sliding glass roof plus a swim-against-the-current lap pool. She also has an ocean view fitness centre, sports court, nine-hole mini-golf course and golf simulator, jogging track and a wonderful two-storey indoor Fun Zone designed especially for kids. For relaxation the Japanese-themed Lotus Spa offers a complete escape.

In keeping with Princess Cruises "More balconies than any other cruise line" tag, Golden Princess has four full decks of staterooms with private balconies. In fact an incredible 80% of all outside staterooms have a private verandah.

Golden Princess has a guest capacity of 2,600, a length of 951ft and a gross tonnage of 109,000. Her maiden voyage was the 16th May 2001 and she cruises at a comfortable speed of 22knots/25mph.

Dining

The main dining area aboard Golden Princess is "Canaletto Dining Room" which is where you can indulge in mouth-watering dishes. If you prefer the idea of choosing when you want to eat then you can choose between "Donatello Dining Room" and "ernini Dining Room". For speciality dining you can choose from; "Sabatini’s" the on-board Italian restaurant, "Sterling Steakhouse" for the finest steak and seafood on this ship or "Ultimate Balcony Dining" offers luxurious meals straight to your door. Casual eatery’s include "24-hour International Café", "Vines" for wine and seafood, "Scoops ice cream bar", "Prego Pizzeria", "Trident Grill" for burgers and hot-dogs and "Afternoon tea"’ for, well you guessed it, afternoon tea.

Leisure

There are plenty of activities to keep you busy all day long aboard Golden Princess. There are various Swimming Pools around the ship including hot tubs and there is even enough deck space for you to soak up the sun if you’d prefer. For those who like it sporty then the gym and fitness is fully equipped to offer a good work out including a swim-against-the-current lap pool to put you through your paces. If you prefer golf then Golden Princess has a nine-hole putting course and virtual golf simulators, or you can play Shuffleboard and Tennis on the Sports Courts. Golden Princess is home to a world-class art collection where you can go and bid on a piece of culture or the Internet Café allows you to keep in touch with family and friends back home. There are various classes and lectures available with the "ScholarShip@Sea" programme and for those who like to shop, the Boutiques section offers duty free goods.

Entertainment

Golden Princess is home to a whole host of entertainment. The main theatre on-board is, "Vista Show Lounge" which provides a variety of outstanding shows and live music. "Movies under the Stars" is the on-board cinema showing the latest films in a spectacular setting, and "Explorers Lounge" and "kywalkers Nightclub" are the liveliest places on the ship where you can dance until sunrise. If you fancy your hand at Blackjack, "Grand Casino" has everything you need for a great night of gambling. If you prefer to sit back and unwind with a cocktail then "Players Cigar Bar", "Promenade Lounge and Bar" and "Wheelhouse Bar" offer a welcoming atmosphere to do just that.

Relaxation

Take a whole day out to spoil yourself with a set of treatments in the "Lotus Spa". There are plenty for you to choose from such as; youth enhancing facial, aroma stone therapy, cellulite reduction programme, muscle spa ocean wrap and acupuncture If you prefer to sit in a peaceful atmosphere and read a book then the Golden Princess Library is the place for you.

Family

The kids on-board Golden Princess have their own dedicated area, with lots to do, see and discover, all in the care of fully trained professionals. There is an age appropriate programme from Princess Pelicans (ages 3-7), Shockwaves (ages 8-12) and Remix (ages 13-17). The young people’s section also includes an arcade full of video games, and has proved extremely popular with the teens. There are plenty of activities including; Karaoke, Board Games, Pizza Parties, and Pyjama Parties to name a few, so you can be assured that your children are having as much fun as you are aboard Golden Princess.

Medical & Accessibility

There is a well-equipped medical centre on-board Golden Princess, with medical supplies and the on-board doctors and nurses. If you need medical supplies then it would be advised to bring them with you for the journey. Golden Princess makes every effort to accommodate for wheelchair users, with all staterooms being wheelchair friendly. The hallways are wide and there are lifts all around the decks. If you have a hearing impairment then you will be provided with a TTY kit and the theatres have assisted listening devices. The ship also provides JAWS kits to accommodate for those that are visually impaired.
