So how do these loyalty programmes compare? We have included those with some of the world’s top cruise lines below for more information.

Carnival Cruise Line’s VIFP Club

With Carnival Cruise Line, guests can become members of the VIFP Club – like a VIP Club but for a Very Important Fun Person! This club recognises guests who repeatedly book with Carnival Cruise Line, with great benefits for next level fun. One of the main benefits of the club is that you don’t need to have cruised with Carnival Cruise Line before to join! You can take advantage of members-only offers even before you’ve booked to sail.

What’s included?

The club is split into five tiers – Blue, Red, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond – each of which are determined by how many days you’ve cruised. Every day you cruise, you gain another VIFP point. The Celebrity Cruises’ Captain’s Club offers guests exclusive rewards, perks and privileges when you join. You don’t have to have cruised with Celebrity Cruises to join, though you earn points for every sailing to reap more and more benefits each time.

What’s included?

The Captain’s Club has six tiers – Premium, Classic, Select, Elite, Elite Plus, and Zenith. Points are earnt based on the number of nights you spend on-board and your stateroom category – the higher the category, the more you earn. Points start at 2 per night in Interior and Ocean View staterooms, right up to 18 points per night in Reflection, Penthouse and Iconic Suites.

Preview Tier – 0-1 points

There are four tiers to the Columbus Club – Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Your tier level depends on the number of cruise nights travelled with Cruise & Maritime Voyages.

Silver Tier – Up to 20 nights cruised

When you’ve cruised with Holland America Line, you’re automatically enrolled into the Mariner Society. You can earn cruise day credits for each day that you cruise, as well as each purchase. Bonus credits are also available when you select a suite or penthouse and spend over a certain limit in on-board purchases.

What’s included?

There are five levels to the Mariner Society, starting a 1 Star up to 5 Star. When you return from your first cruise, you also return as a Star Mariner! What’s included?

Virgin Voyages Loyalty Programme

Though not officially declared, the new cruise line, headed up by Virgin Group’s founder Richard Branson, has revealed there are plans in place to start a valuable loyalty programme.

Branson reported in a press conference that he wanted to change the cruise industry loyalty programme and create something truly valuable. He said, “We are setting up something called Virgin Red, which will pull various Virgin companies together.” This could mean that soon you will be able to collect points from your Virgin Atlantic flights, your Virgin Voyages sailings or a Virgin mobile plan.
