Fremantle cruise port is located 12 miles south of the city of Perth in Western Australia. If you're only there for a day, it's not really possible to visit both places properly, so we'd suggest picking one.
"Freo", as the locals call it, is small and very laid-back city, with a fun, friendly atmosphere. Freemantle is the hang-out spot of many artists, musicians and writers who often head here from Perth at weekends to enjoy the Bohemian atmosphere of the many bars, cafes, pubs and clubs. Tourists will find plenty to enjoy in Fremantle, with many interesting historic buildings such as Fremantle Prison, museums like the Western Australia Maritime Museum and art galleries. Fremantle has many great beaches, but please bear in mind that there are sometimes sharks present.
If you'd prefer to experience big city life, or maybe if you've visited Fremantle already before, then you should consider heading over to Perth for the day. The Central Business Bistrict (CBD) is a lively area where you'll find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Close by, you'll find Kings Park and Botanic Garden which features over 2000 plant species and has great views of the city. Perth also has some beautiful beaches, such as Cottesloe, which is the most popular of all beaches in Western Australia.
The currency in Perth is the Australian Dollar. Perth is 10 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +8).
