Found on the southwest coast of Cyprus, Paphos is one of the most beautiful, ancient towns in Cyprus. And, legend has it that the city is built on the spot where the Greek Goddess of Love, Aphrodite was born. Divided into two areas, Paphos consists of Kato Paphos; with its picturesque medieval harbour, and Ktima inland; with its hilly streets and village taverns. Both are well worth having a stroll around.
A place rich in history, there are many fascinating sites for you to visit, including the mesmerising mosaics - which you'll find just next to the harbour. Another place worthy of a visit is the awe-inspiring ‘Tombs of the Kings'. Featuring ancient chambers carved into the ground, you'll find this site on ‘Tombs of the Kings Road'. Blessed with a natural beauty, you can visit a variety of astonishing gorges, long stretched beautiful coastlines and nature trails; it's a nature lover's paradise. If you want to bask in the sun… head to one of the fine beaches. You'll find one of them within easy walking distance.
Loukoumia is a local sweet product sold in most tourist shops in Paphos. Other popular purchases include delicately woven Cypriot lace, pottery and sculptures.
The local currency here is the Euro. 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +2).
