Suez Cruises

Situated at the Red Sea end of the Suez Canal, Suez became a major port after the Suez Canal opened in 1869. Measuring up to 101-miles-long, the Suez Canal took 15 years to build. And, it cut a staggering 7,000 miles off the journey from England to India. One of Egypt's largest ports, it is situated near the scenic Ataga Hills (Jebel Ataga). And, it's fascinating to watch ships as they pass through the canal from Suez's vantage point. Suez offers a remarkable view over Sinai and the Red Sea too. Well known for its stunning beaches, Suez's popular beach resorts include 'Adabiya Bay' and 'Cabanon'. Both are located just a few miles south of Port Suez.

There are a lot of skilled crafters in Suez – and you'll discover many of them have stalls situated near to the cruise terminal. Their handiworks include pottery, wood carvings and jewellery.

The local currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP). Suez is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich meantime (GMT +2).
