Trondheim is a city which lies at the mouth of the river Nidelva in Norway. This fascinating city boasts a wealth of history and culture and is an important religious pilgrimage site, as Norway's patron saint Olav once lived here. During your time in this port you can visit the Nidaros Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace museum which offers Gothic style architecture and is the burial site of St. Olav himself. Ringve Museum is an 18th century manor house where each room depicts a different period in time, the Museum of Decorative Arts is home to a whole host of interesting artefacts and informative displays or you could venture to Monk Island just offshore for a place to take a stroll on the sandy beaches.
The centre of the city is the place to find all the shops, boutiques and markets. It is here that you will be able to purchase souvenirs including; clothes, jewellery, perfume, hand-crafted goods, leather goods and fresh produce.
The currency here is the Norwegian krone (NOK). Trondheim is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich meantime (GMT +1).
