Boudicca Reviews

With this ship I knew that it wasn´t one of the new ships with rock climbing walls and zip liners and it was older than the rest of the cruise liners I have been with, but it had the most welcoming feeling which I now can understand why they have so much repeat guests. I felt that is was more of a family on-board that everyone so glad to see you!

The prices of drinks on Fred Olsen are unbelievable … they are very cheap compared to your other cruise liners. I could not complain about the food either as it was to a very high standard.

Booked a great deal with Fred Olsen on the Boudicca. Couldnt refuse it! We have been with Fred Olsen before and like the way they have smaller ship so they can visit ports that some of the larger ships cannot get access to easily. This time we cruised the Baltic States and visited Denmark, Sweden, Estonia and Russia. During the summer months this part of Europe is spectacular. The scenery is breath taking, and the little medieval streets and simply a wonder to wander around. We like the smaller ships as the atmosphere is a little more intimate than lager ships and we tend to find the people on these cruises are similar to us: on them for the culture rather than the endless meal options. It is nice to sit in the bar and chat with other people about their experiences. Boudicca is a lovely ship. It was designed for world cruises so the ship is geared up for great views from wherever you are on the ship.

We have always wanted to visit Iceland, but found it to be very expensive to fly there just for a couple of nights and couldnt really justify the cost. We then stumbled across the Fred Olsen brochure and they were doing a special offer to 3 places in Iceland with no flights needed at all. The cost was less that the city break would have been, and you have all your meals included! We sailed on the Boudicca and were very impressed with the ship. We had never been on a cruise before and were not sure what to expect. Id heard it was either really stuffy or they had massive ships, like floating resorts, full of kids. This could not have been further from the truth. The atmosphere was relaxed, the crew friendly. No pressure to do anything, and what we did want to do, we did at a leisurely pace.

We wanted to do the German Christmas Markets, but also wanted to make a longer holiday of it, so we decided to do a cruise. We chose Fred Olsen because of their reputation and reviews. As well as the German markets, we also visited Oslo, Hamburg and Copenhagen. A truly wonderful experience. It was the perfect start to a family Christmas. The ship was just right for us, not tiny, but not huge either. We still had plenty to do and the on board service was brilliant. We particularly enjoyed in the informal buffet dining.

I have just returned from doing the Norwegian Fjords on the Fred Olsen Boudicca, the cabin was lovely and spacious and gave me a home from home feel. The staff on board I could not fault, they were always polite and on hand to help me whenever we needed or wanted. In the restaurants in the evening if they didn’t have something on the menu which you wanted they would go out their way to ensure you were satisfied and made you something of your personal choice. The entertainment was brilliant very traditional and again the feel you got on board was very welcoming and friendly. I was very scared about travelling on my own on a cruise as I had never done this before, I thought the ship may have been too big and that I would not of made any friends. However I was able to make friends in the evenings as I had a set dining time which I chose at the time of booking to sit with a table of 8 at 6:30pm. There was more single travellers on this ship than I thought, probably because the prices are very good value for money. I will definitely travel on a Fred Olsen ship again as I felt very happy with the level of service which was received whilst on board the ship.

Evening entertainment is always a priority for us on any cruise we go on, so to have the choice of 5 bars, and 3 eateries to choose from on The Boudicca, meant each night was a different experience. Yet we still received the same high standard of service in each, the staff are always warm and friendly and really do go the extra mile!

Myself and my wife have just recently come off of the Boudicca on a 12 night Baltic cruise, we had such a nice time. This was our very first cruise, and only wish we had started cruising years ago now!

The staff were so friendly on board, and knew what we liked to drink each evening after the 2nd night, they were so helpful on board and went out of their way to help you especially our room steward Edwardo.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food, I am an extremely fussy eater and was nervous before we left thinking I would be stuck … well there wasn’t a single night that went by that I didn’t know what to eat, plenty of choice, the food was superb and always roasting hot on hot plates which is a good sign and always so fresh even if we were at sea 3 days in a row.

The Accommodation we had on board was an outside cabin, however once we got on board we found we had been upgraded to a Balcony Suite … which was perfect for our very first cruise.

We had a large and very comfortable double bed in the cabin, a sitting area which was helpful and good to be able to relax after some of the shore excursions, the on suite which had a bath tub AND shower which was just great … my wife loves a bath every night so this was more than we could have asked for.

And also of course not to mention the balcony … which we thoroughly enjoyed sitting out in the evenings enjoying a glass of wine.

We really enjoyed our cruise and didn’t have any thing we could fault with fred olsen, the ship is lovely, food outstanding and the service on board is far superior to any hotels we have stayed in.

We will definitely be back with FRED !! (as they call him on board).

This was our 4th cruise with Fred Olsen and thought we might try the Boudicca. With all of the Fred ships the staff, service and entertainment were very good. The reason why we like Fred so much is the size of the ships - not too small but not big, they cruise from the UK. They have the classic British feel onboard and the drinks are priced very reasonable. We like to have the choice between 1st and 2 nd dining which I am pleased to say Fred Olsen do offer. The cabins were basic but clean and comfortable. We had an inside cabin which was good as we did not want to spend any more money as we spend very little time in the cabin. The age group on this ship was about 60 and over. Fred is very popular with the older crowd.

As a single senior traveller I have travelled on many cruise lines but always return to Fred Olsen. The ships are a lot smaller than most cruise lines so the range of ports visited is different to other itineraries, it is also a more intimate atmosphere on board which makes it easier to meet and make friendships with people. The service on board is outstanding and they really do look after your every need as well as chatting to you and making you feel comfortable. The cabins are kept immaculate and I would recommend the balcony cabins to take in all the beautiful views.

We cruised with Fred Olsen around 10 years ago and decided to give them another go. The service was fantastic this time round and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our cabin was very spacious and in a great spot, central to everything! We were on deck 7. The drinks were very reasonably priced unlike on some American cruise ships and tipping was completely up to you. Great holiday, very relaxing and we will defiantly be cruising with Fred again.

I’ve never been on a cruise on my own before and was quite anxious about it, but after a push from my daughter I decided to go with Fred Olsen, and I’m so glad that I did.

I met a lovely lady on board at diner and we are already planning our next trip on the Black Watch in the summer. The staff were all so courteous and polite and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. I really enjoyed the dancing on board as well and met some lovely interesting people. I would urge any single travellers to just give it a go…it was worth it for me!

What a fantastic ship, so beautifully designed. Fred Olsen cruises are great because the passenger numbers are so small, you are never cramped like on other cruise ships! I especially love the gym on the sun deck, what a great way to stay in shape while on holiday.

Fred Olsen Boudicca- a very welcome once meeting the ship, the ship was in good order and a lot of open spaces which I wasn’t expecting. Great food and a good variety too.

Entertainment team were great- good selection of programmes and good shows. Staff were very friendly and polite. i love the fact that their ships get into different ports of call that the bigger ships cant- this is a definite bonus.

We had a fantastic time on the Boudicca and already planning our next cruise!

Staff on board were superb.

We had a beautiful balcony cabin on the bridge deck 160 sq ft …a very generous size!

The Boudicca carries just 880 guests, just about the right size!

We liked the Four Seasons Restaurant, the staff were excellent!

We also like the Secret Garden café because it was more informal

On the lounge deck there were two Jacuzzis in which to relax as well as an exercise pool if you were feeling energetic!

A great fitness centre on the sun deck with amazing views!

Entertainment was great and had something different each evening.

Excellent choice of excursions too.

Fantastic standard of service from a welcoming crew always makes this ship one of our firm favorites. There are no hidden costs as everythings in pounds which makes it easy to keep an eye on the purse strings.

The ship although smaller than most we find to be a plus as you make friends easily on larger ships you don’t see the same people twice and you can get a bit lost, great ship if you’re single (I don’t mean to meet George Clooney) I mean you would feel safe.
