Insignia Reviews

star rating

We have just returned from Oceania Insignia doing a Mediterranean itinerary from Barcelona to Rome.

We chose this as we have been on one of the line’s other ships - the Oceania Regatta - previously, and love the size and friendly feel of a top quality smaller ship.

We liked our penthouse suite, which was just over 300 sq ft, so plenty big enough and a bit special but it didn’t bust the bank either. The cabin has a full bathroom which I love and also has a Butler: sheer luxury!

The food on board was excellent, the main dining room was very grand-feeling but not too over the top, however my favourite was Polo, the Ala carte, which does amazing Beef and Lobster. The Italian Toscana is great for a change too. This is assuming you have any room left after having afternoon tea which is white glove service every afternoon at 4pm. The cakes are to die for! You can also have room service for a meal if you wish too.

Entertainment was good, the shows were great and there were a few bars to choose from, a Martini Bar and various others along with a couple of lounge areas – plenty to do.

On sea days the Spa was good, we could access the spa sun bed areas which were quiet and secluded and I like to have a few treatments whilst away too. The pool deck had plenty of sunbeds although it may get a bit crowded on trips with more sea days if the weather is good.

There were wine tasting classes and cookery lessons on board too if you fancied it.

All in all a wonderful trip, we just need to try the other three ships and we will be happy!!

Insignia is a lovely traditional-style cruise ship like the old days of cruising in the 1920s and 30s. What she lacks in promenade decks and marble bathrooms she gains with elegance and relaxed atmosphere. The dining was some of the best we have seen. We particularly liked her itineraries which afford visits to the less busy ports of call. Entertainment was low key and no need for formal dress yet the whole experience was first class. We will certainly cruise on her again.
