Oceana Reviews

Iberia cruise, Fantastic experience from start to finish!!! Speedy check in fantastic staff on board and very welcoming cabin staff, for which nothing was too much trouble.

The cabin was spacious clean and of a high standard , toiletries were of a high quality. My case was on my bed on arrival to my cabin and I was asked if I needed assistance un packacking - nice touch.

I was on E deck in an outside unrestricted view cabin close to lifts any lucky me … the shops, which I loved ..handbags jewellery clothes, fantastic.

I was booked for my meals on first sitting in the ligurian restaurant and my oh my was the food good I would advise 6 mths of weight watchers beforehand as the courses kept coming and coming .

The food on board was mouthwatering from breakfast(full English) high teas mid morning with hot scones and butter fantastic lunches and evening meals a high class restaurant anywhere would indeed be proud of. My particular favourite was a baileys cheesecake made in the kitchen on board ( I wanted to kidnap the chef) chocolate fountains with chocolate everything mmmm.

Great wines to accompany meals were talked through with a knowledgable maître d that were always the perfect choice.

Entertainment was of such a standard I could have been in the westend of London , chitty chitty bang bang ,cats wow… the singers were actually brought from those shows and you could tell by the quality. Yacht and compass bar was great for a pre show drink , le club was great for karaoke and a boogie on the dance floor. There are two show lounges onboard so if westend shows arent your thing you can see a comedian or lounge singer.

Definatley an all-round family ship great kids clubs, crèche where mums and dads could leave babies go for a well deserved meal and take a pager with them so they were assured to be contacted if there were a problem with the little ones. The daily magazine was great not only to let you know about the excursions but what you could join in with on the cruise on a daily basis, too many to list but heres a few: line dancing, ballroom, quizzes, spa, quoits on deck, talks, cookery omg it went on and on. On a sea day I opted for a spa package, massage and facial came back relaxed and smelling wonderfull, well worth a visit!!!

Ports of call: La Rochelle great French fishing village beautiful marina cafes with great views to watch the world go by. Guernsey great for shopping and buckets,,,yes I said buckets of prawn fresh and mouthwatering fare, yum. Lisbon great shops but the square reminded me of chitty chitty bang bang old world charm again great pavement cafes for a nice cold beer, the weather was great and it was November my friend actually commented it couldnt get any warmer if we flew to the sun ha ha.

What I liked most: sea days and the formal evenings, captains cocktail evening, fantasic gowns men in tuxedos it was like another world seeing everyone glammed up!!!!

Would recommend in a flash to couples, familys first time cruisers and singles all in all, brilliant cruise like being in a 5 star hotel at sea.

Me and my husband have just returned from a 12 night cruise on Oceana around the Canary Islands. The weather was lovely, the sun was shining and it was perfect weather to be on deck enjoying all the activities. Embarkation from Southampton went very smoothly not much waiting around and the staff were so welcoming and we evening got a glass of bubbly on arrival!

The food on board was outstanding; there was just so much choice we mainly dinned in Café Jardin for breakfast and lunch. We also ate at Horizon’s grill one or twice which was such a great treat! The meat there is cooked to perfection. We opted for Freedom dining this time, on previous cruises we had specific times but we much preferred freedom. It meant we didn’t have to rush around to get to the sittings and we could have a nice relaxing drink before our meal. We never waited longer than 20 minutes to be seated, it was excellent service.

The entertainment was great, we went to watch a show at Starlights show lounge which was brilliant so much fun and then we even had a tipple in the Casino on board which was so fun! The Magnums champagne bar is fabulous, we aren’t big drinkers but the experience is well worth it. The shops on board are great, as well as the art gallery is a different touch which we really enjoyed.

We decided to choose an outside cabin on D deck, it had a massive window which was lovely to sit and look out of when you wake up in the morning. Storage space is good, enough room to put all our clothes and belongings, the shower room could have been a bit bigger but then I’m used to having a very big bathroom at home.

The staff on board are excellent as we have grown a custom to expect from P&O. They can never do enough for you, always with a smile on their face and ever so polite. I’ve never experienced service like it. Our cabin steward always kept our cabin clean. We will definitely be returning, thank you for all your hard work!!

The old girl is getting on a bit now but is still a match for any other ship in the fleet , the crew have been there a while and really do make your holiday extra special , certainly my favourite P&O ship

I would really recommend this cruise to people of all ages. I travelled as a couple and was a little bit worried about having lots of children on-board but the children’s play area was far away from all adult areas and the staff made sure the adults were never disturbed.

The food was of a fantastic quality and I would really recommend the buffet restaurant as there was so much choice.

I loved the spa and the treatments were a reasonable price.

Oceana is defiantly the best looking of P&O’s fleet and I would defiantly go again.

We really enjoyed this cruise as I found the size wasn’t as big as some of the cruses I have been on as it is classed as a mid size ship, I really enjoyed the Oasis spa and thought the prices were really reasonable, The Plaza buffet restaurant had a huge choice of food to choose from, We used to enjoy the Café Jardin for lunch which was waiter service and a bit quieter and in the evening it was a Marco Pierre White menu which I did not have but others said it was lovely, The main dining restaurant was beautiful and the food and service was fantastic, I found the different bars and lounges offered a good choice of entertainment and the shows were brilliant, Cabins were really spacious with lots of storage for clothes, All the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, Would highly recommend this ship and looking forward to going on again in September

This cruise is a great cruise for any age. I went on this cruise in December and thought it was fantastic. It is definately the best looking of P&O’S fleet, the atrium is amazing.

Service was excellent and there was a great choice of food. The spa is award winning and reasonably priced. The staff always made you feel welcome and could not accommodate us enough. I would recommend this cruise to everyone

We only just got back from our cruise on the Oceana; it was the 12 night one to the canaries. The weather could have been better, bit damp for quite a lot of the time and the seas were a bit rough a couple of days. We had to miss out Cadiz because the captain couldn’t actually get the ship into the port as the seas were too rough. We had this problem a couple of years ago when we tried to get into Piraeus, but not to worry; we still had an excellent holiday. Mostly we had breakfast and lunch in the Jardin café which was nice but we also like to eat on deck at the Horizon when the weather was good. It was good to know that on the few days that the weather was dodgy that there was still plenty to do. We love sunbathing so are easily pleased but as I said, when we couldn’t do that we didn’t get bored at all. We had an outside cabin which was nice, plenty of room and storage space.

I would definitely go back on her again, just hope the weather is better next time.
