Main Dining Room 2

Dining

The main dining room offers three tiers, with each floor named after famous influencers: Leonardo’s, Isaac’s and Galileo’s. Here enjoy a three-course meal with delicious options such as shrimp cocktail, watermelon and raspberry soup and Thai chicken breast. A buffet-style restaurant can be found a Windjammer’s where you can experience a more casual affair and customise your own burgers, wraps, salads and breakfasts.

Along the Royal Promenade there are plenty of dining venues including Sorrento’s all-day pizzeria and Café Promenade’s complimentary pastries and sandwiches. Speciality dining includes Chops Grille, Giovanni’s Table, Sabor Modern Mexican and Johnny Rockets. For a quick snack, there is also a Ben & Jerry’s, The Cupcake Cupboard – both of which are chargeable – as well as Sprinkles, a poolside ice cream machine.

Alternatively, get away from it all with the adult-only Solarium where you can take a dip in this tranquil sanctuary while the children are enjoying one of the many activities in the dedicated programmes.

Freedom of the Seas Reviews

Joanna Brighton

star rating

My first impression on boarding the Freedom was WOW! The décor on board was stunning. The cabins had everything you need and wasnt as small as I thought they would be. The choice of facilities on board caters for all ages, my favourite pastimes were ice skating & the “Flow rider” a surf ,machine… yes surfing at sea! The service & dining on board was high standard & plenty of choice. I would definitely cruise with Royal Caribbean again.

Just got back from Orlando spent 4 days on International Drive and 7 nights on the Freedom of The Sea. We have 2 children aged 4 and 12 they both had the time of their life. It was great to relax on the ship after a hectic 4 days we hardly saw the kids at all they were in Kids club and loved it just as much as Orlando. The crew were amazing form the cabin steward right down to the Doctor who saw to my twisted ankle after a little tumble in one of the ports. We normally cruise with Princess but we found much more to do on this ship for all of us. Next year we fancy the Independence after its refurbishment of course.

I was very lucky to cruise the Western Caribbean on Freedom of the Seas after its launch in 2006 as the largest cruise ship in the world at the time.

When we got to Miami Port we were amazed by the ship at first sight and this just got better as we embarked. The facilities were endless from the rock climbing wall, a spectacular flowrider, cantilevered whirlpools, the spa, a 3D cinema and much more.

Our Stateroom was superb with all you should expect from a 5* hotel and much more. The stateroom was spacious and balcony was great to relax on and to enjoy the sights of the Caribbean waters and weather.

The number of dining venues was great. They ranged from casual options such as the Windjammer to Johnny Roberts, and specialities restaurants such as Chops Grille & Portofino. The food overall was great but in Chops Grille & Portofino this was one of the best we have tried.

The entertainment was endless from daytime activities such as quizzes & pool games, to the night entertainment such as the shows in the theatre, street parties and all the live music and dancing.

The staff onboard were great and always willing to help. This made us feel very welcomed and definitely made our cruise experience with Royal Caribbean most memorable.

At each port the disembarkation and embarkation was organised and very quick, which allowed us to enjoy the most of the time we had in each port.

I would definitely recommend Royal Caribbean especially Freedom of the Seas as this had been one of our best cruise experiences.

We couldnt decide what to do this year for a holiday. My wife and I wanted to do a cruise, the kids wanted to do Florida. After a quick search we found Royal Caribbean do the perfect package for us. A few days in Orlando and then a cruise down to the Caribbean. Because we booked the hotels with them we got free passes to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. They also included the transfers from Orlando to the hotel and parks so no need for car hire this time. The kids (and I) got the theme park fix needed and then the R&R started for my wife and me as we set sail. Sailing from Port Canaveral is so easy, and only an hour or so away from Orlando. Freedom of the Seas is a fantastic ship. With loads to do, the kids didnt stop all week. They have been surfing, rock climbing, ice skating and miniature golf – all on board the ship. My wife and I enjoyed the evening shows as well as few days relaxing by the pool. The food choices are amazing, with so much on offer to suit everyone. Our cabin was great, with enough room for the 4 of us. The cabin is well decorated, fresh, modern and comfortable. Definitely doing this again!

We usually go on land based holidays with a golf course nearby. My husband and our son love just being able to go off and have a round of golf and it took a lot to persuade them to try cruising. I promised them they’d still get a round of golf in but I didn’t know how good it would be. They were more than 4 pleased with the 9 hole golf course on-board and even better whilst they disappeared for some bonding time. I headed to the solarium. I have never seen anything like it. The cantilevered whirlpools are amazing and the views were so breath taking I couldn’t have felt more relaxed. I would recommend this ship to anyone

Freedom of the Seas – We loved the family friendly activities & things to keep the children entertained! The staff in the Adventure Ocean never stopped and certainly made our lives easier.

We recently went on Freedom and had a fabulous time – we are a family of four, my husband and I, 2 children aged 9 + 11. The children were really excited about cruising as they had seen the ships on the TV and all the activities that were on board. The both loved the Rock Climbing Wall and were constantly queuing to have another go and my eldest boy even tried the flow rider surfer at the front of the ship. What an experience!! There was a water park called H2O zone for the kids to play in as well as the pool. My kids don’t usually like the clubs on holidays but they met up with friends on Freedom and spent lots of time in there as well. This meant overall that they had a fab time so my husband and myself could relax knowing they were safe and looked after.

We all did a bit of mini golf together as well, something we wouldn’t normally do at home.

The food was great so much choice from Pizza to posh grills and a cupcake shop, we all liked Johnny Rockets too! WE saw a few shows in the evenings which were great and also tried the cinema.

The ship is huge but doesn’t feel it once your on there, we soon found our way around and had a great time, we all want to go back again next year.

I must admit I’m a sucker for shopping and I was worried I wouldn’t get many shops on-board this ship however the 4 storey mall lined with bars and shops was excellent. There was something for everyone and it took me all holiday to visit everything. I usually sit back and relax on holiday and don’t like to do very much apart from enjoy the sunshine however there was just so much to do on-board I haven’t stopped. There were so many facilities on-board I even went ice skating on a ship. It’s mind boggling. I would recommend the Royal Caribbean ships to anyone from the food to the facilities I cant complain at all

Myself and my 2 children had a week away on the Freedom of the seas which was amazing! As I’m a single parent I wanted a ship that had plenty to do for the girls to keep them entertained. Well the staff were fantastic, couldn’t do enough for you. My girls loved the DreamWorks experience as they had all their favourite characters on board the ship. They loved to spend their days watching 3D films or trying out the flowrider and splashing around in H2O zone with all the interactive fountains and water cannons! I then got to relax by the pool or stroll along the royal promenade, with all the fantastic shops and places to eat. It felt like I hardly saw my two girls, but they had such a wonderful time and so did I. Next time we’re going to try another Royal Caribbean ship.

Having cruised with Royal Caribbean many times before, I was expecting the same exceptional service I receive every time and I was not disappointed. Yet again, the cruise was fantastic. The staff really do make the cruise and they cannot do enough for you. We travelled on the Freedom of the Seas from Port Canaveral this time and everything was perfect. From the embarkation to the food, the entertainment, as always, second to none. I still fail to find fault with the Royal Caribbean cruises, which is impressive after 23 of them! Its our 40th anniversary next year so we’ll be sure to do another Royal Caribbean and if they make as much of a fuss as they did for our 30th, I’m sure it will be a brilliant experience to remember.

We had been planning a family holiday to Orlando, to take my son to see all the usual sites for some time; however I wanted to also have a relaxing holiday myself. The Freedom of the Seas matched everything that I wanted, safe environment for my child, amazing entertainment every night and the best food around. We enjoyed a seven night cruise around the Caribbean visiting some fantastic destinations. We decided to go for a balcony cabin because we had our baby; it was far more spacious and enabled me to enjoy the sun in the afternoon, whilst my baby slept after too much fun in the baby pool. One thing that I were very surprised about, were the sense of space you felt. There were always quiet places to have a drink or sit and relax. I did come back half a stone heavier so this is a sign of a perfect holiday for me, the food were amazing and catered very well for our baby. Our waiter went all out to entertain him during our meal, so we got to sit back and enjoy the food. We were very sad to say goodbye to all the staff who we befriended and they all made out holiday very special.

Excellent ship, modern facilities on board, there was a group of us on this ship for my Brother’s wedding and we had something like 8 balcony cabins all in a row and what we did- we took away all the partitions between each cabin and had I big full extended balcony which was so much fun and the kids could have ore space to go between parents & aunts & uncles cabins and Grandparents cabin too- very good option if people don’t know they can do this on board!! We visited some amazing ports of call- Labadee, st.Thomas, ST.Maarten- some of my favourite Caribbean islands. Been back 3 times since this.

I sailed on the Freedom of the seas around the Caribbean & had a fun filled holiday with great service. Royal Caribbean are a cruise line for all ages and great for people with or without children. There are so many activities to try on board my personal favourite was the "Flow Rider" surfing at sea & the Ice rink- I never thought I would try ice skating especially at sea.

The cabins had everything you need & my cabin attendant Harold become more like a friend.

There are plenty of areas to have some quite time and relax and for that I spent my time in the luxurious spa or in one of the cantilevered whirlpools just relaxing looking out over the ocean. Perfect!

All in all the food, service, entertainment & facilities are what made my holiday on board Freedom of the seas perfect.
