Everyone’s favourite celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has announced plans to launch two new Jamie’s Italian restaurants in partnership with Royal Caribbean International aboard their new Quantum-class vessels – the Quantum of the Seas and the Anthem of the Sea – in November 2014 and April 2015 respectively.
Oliver is a world-famous chef and much-loved television personality, respected within his industry and across the world. He has had astonishing success with all of his many television programmes, including the Emmy award-winning Jamie’s Food Revolution, which took America by storm. Since the beginning of his career, Oliver’s shows have been transmitted across 100 different countries and his cook books are international best sellers. With his latest endeavour, Jamie Oliver plans to take his distinctive cuisine into the world of cruising.
Sources report that when speaking of the new venture, Oliver said, “I’m thrilled to partner with Royal Caribbean, a brand that continually pushes the limits of what’s possible, to debut my first restaurants at sea onboard the new Quantum-class ships.”
The Naked Chef went on to say, “Royal Caribbean share my approach to food and dining, which is to serve simple, fresh ingredients in a warm, inviting ambience. I couldn’t be more excited to bring my love of Italian cooking to their guests with Jamie’s Italian. It’s going to be brilliant!”
Although Oliver already boasts a multitude of renowned and highly respected restaurants in locations across the world, these will be the chef’s very first eateries based on-board a cruise ship and the announcement has sent a wave of excitement through the cruising industry. The placement of Jamie’s Italian restaurants aboard two of Royal Caribbean’s newest and most innovative vessels is all part of the line’s plans to completely reimagine dining at sea, by offering a wide selection of 18 different eating venues across their Quantum class ships, with a plethora of tempting options ranging from sophisticated fine dining to fast food outlets.
Royal Caribbean’s new approach to dining has been initiated in order to replace the formal Captain’s Table dining often associated with cruise getaways. Royal Caribbean’s International Spokesman Lisa Lutoff-Perlo claims the partnership with Jamie Oliver was, “Just one element of revolutionised dining concept to ensure the options we have on board reflect what today’s modern family looks for from their holiday,” whilst also adding, “‘Jamie Oliver is known for pushing the boundaries within the world of food and Royal Caribbean has a history of pioneering many firsts within the holiday industry. With Jamie’s Italian creating unique but accessible dining with food that is at its freshest and ethically sourced, we are able to guarantee guests will only be served the freshest Italian dishes possible while on holiday with Royal Caribbean.”
Jamie’s Italian will serve a variety of delicious Italian dishes for everyone on-board to enjoy. From scrumptious freshly-made pasta dishes – such as tempting pumpkin panzerotti and flavourful prawn linguine – to an array of enticing grills, entrées and desserts. Guests will be able to enjoy a host of rustic meals; each created using traditional Italian recipes and the freshest seasonal ingredients, guaranteed to please the palette. Each of the dishes available at Jamie’s Italian have been painstakingly formed by Oliver himself and thoroughly tried and tested in the Naked Chef’s other worldwide dining venues.
