Celebrity chefs are a firm fixture on both our TV screens and bookshelves and are fast becoming one within the world of cruising, too. Princess Cruises has just become the latest cruise line to announce a partnership with a culinary king, in the form of restaurateur, author and TV personality Curtis Stone.
Chef Stone will be bringing his kitchen expertise to the line in the form of special Crafted by Curtis dishes in main dining rooms, which will debut on-board Golden Princess during the autumn season and be available fleet-wide by the end of the year.
Of course a celebrity chef wouldn’t be a celebrity chef without his own restaurant and Chef Stone’s personally designed venue will debut in December on-board Emerald Princess, Ruby Princess, Sun Princess and Coral Princess. There will also be a specialty Chef’s Table experience which will debut across the whole fleet in 2016.
Chef Stone is clearly keen to share his culinary expertise with cruisers, saying: “Since I travel often, I know that discovering delicious food and sharing a great meal can create some of the most memorable moments and I’ve designed my restaurants with this in mind. It’s important to me that guests have the experience that I would want and food that I’d be thrilled to eat myself, at sea or anywhere else in the world.”
Though only 39, Australian-born Stone has plenty of experience to his name, having started his career early in his homeland at the age of 18 before moving to London to work in Michelin-starred restaurants. He owns his own restaurant, Maude which is located in the US and is the author of six cookbooks. Though well-travelled, he loves his homeland, so if you’re on an Australian itinerary with Princess, you can look forward to something extra-special when you sit down for dinner.
