Royal Caribbean Announces New Oasis-Class Ship

Wonder of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean have announced the newest addition to the fleet will be named Wonder of the Seas. The ship will be the world’s largest cruise ship when she debuts in 2021 and will be the first of the renowned Oasis-Class to sail to Asia!

She is currently under construction in Saint-Nazaire, France, where she recently passed an important milestone. The ship’s keel was lowered into place at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard today, marking the start of the ships construction and a fantastic journey ahead for the cruise line. During the ceremony, a 970-ton block was lifted into the building dock with a 1,400-ton crane.

Speaking back in April this year, Royal Caribbean commented that the ship will:

“…combine the iconic seven-neighbourhood concept that her sister ships feature with a bold and unexpected lineup of thrilling experiences, imaginative dining, unparalleled enertainment and the latest technology.”

Spectrum of the Seas - Royal Caribbean

The announcement follows just a mere few months after Spectrum of the Seas, the cruise line’s first Quantum Ultra Class ship, debuted in China in June this year. This ship was custom-built for the Chinese market and offers new experiences for guests to enjoy on-board – showing the demand for Royal Caribbean cruise holidays in this region of the world.

President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, Michael Bayley also said:

“Royal Caribbean is known for its innovation and constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and an Oasis Class ship in China is proof of that. […] Wonder of the seas wil redefine the ultimate vacation and be revolutionary in her own right, and she marks one of Royal Caribbean’s most exciting chapters to come.”
