Royal Caribbean has signed a deal with the government of Antigua and Barbuda to build its first Royal Beach Club in the Caribbean. First announcing the news in October 2019, the cruise line has now ‘sealed the deal’, marking the start of planning and development for the club.
The Royal Beach Club will open along the beachfront of Fort James, combining Antigua’s famous beaches with the cruise line’s service and amenities. The cruise line has said it will be the ultimate beach experience, offering unique features which bring the destination to life.
“The Royal Beach Club Collection is an adventure we cannot wait to reveal to our guests. We have incredible partners in the government of Antigua and Barbuda to bring the first of our collection to life. Together, we are designing an experience that will bring more visitors to these idyllic islands and will create significant economic benefits and opportunities for local employment for years to come.
“With Royal Beach Club, we’re starting with a great day at a beautiful beach, and adding even more services and activities. Each location will feature local food and music, family activities and custom attractions to give everybody plenty of options on how to spend their day by the ocean.” – Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International
The concept builds on the recent success of the Perfect Day Collection, following news of a second addition to the collection with the Perfect Day at Lelepa. Though further details have not yet been released, the cruise line says to expect regional fare, island-style BBQs and live music, along with unforgettable experiences including wave runners, paddle boarding, snorkelling, splash pads and swim-up bars.
The club is scheduled to open in 2021, with the deal also committing Royal Caribbean to bring Symphony of the Seas to the island in November 2020. The ship will dock at a new port in St. John’s, making it the first Oasis Class ship to visit the island.
