Cast your mind back to December and you may remember when we shared with you on these pages the news that Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess is set to feature in a new ITV show The Cruise in March. The good news is, you don’t have to wait until then to get a look at life on-board a Princess ship, as the Regal Princess’ stunning sister ship Royal Princess will be making an appearance on our screens before then.
The BBC’s current Sea Cities has been looking at the history and maritime heritage of some of the UK’s best-known coastal cities and will finish the series off in style with a final episode which will feature none other than Royal Princess. The episode is scheduled to air on Thursday 18 February on BBC2 at 7pm and focuses on the popular cruise port of Liverpool.
As well as meeting Liverpool Cruise Terminal Manager Angie Redhead, the show will take a look at what life is like behind the scenes on-board the 3,560-guest ship, visiting her while she is in port in the city. At 1,083 feet, Royal Princess is one of the largest cruise ships ever to visit the port of Liverpool and she certainly must like it there, as she called on seven different occasions last year while on cruises around the British Isles.
The 141,000 tonne ship was of course famously christened by HRH The Dutchess of Cambridge back in 2013, and across her 19 decks, guests will find some suitably regal décor and design, such as the eye-catching atrium and the relaxing Lotus Spa. The ship also caught the attention of both lovers of innovation and those who love to enjoy the view out to sea in a different way, thanks to the glass-bottomed Skywalk which extends out over the side of the vessel.
The show promises to be a good insight into the life of both Princess Cruises and the Port of Liverpool and if all this talk of cruising and the maritime life has got you in the mood to try the ship out for yourself, we have a good selection of Royal Princess cruises available, so take a look at what’s on offer then call us to book your place on-board.
